Line exercise 2

For this exercise we had to take an ordinary object, mine was a violin, and use different line techniques to describe an adjective.

This was my original sketch of the violin.

Calm and chaotic
For my first design (the top left corner) I chose to depict the word calm. When I think of the word calm, I think of something that smooth, maybe even soft. I used light colored lines for a calmer feeling, I also used wavy lines for the neck and stings of the violin.

For my second design (bottom right) I chose the word chaotic. I wanted to create an image that seemed more unwelcoming and unstructured. I used dark, harsh lines made with charcoal pencil. I even made the indents of the violin more jagged and pointed.
